This initiative is intended for mothers, fathers and children to interact together in class based on prepared tasks to be carried out in small groups and for families to experience the feeling of belonging to the school and feeling the satisfaction of seeing their sons and daughters advance, playing with the language and learning with them. Funding: Directorate General of Language Policy of the Catalan Autonomous Government (2016-2018). It consists of the organization of a series of workshops aimed at families of children from various schools with different problems; it is characterized by having a strong population with immigrant backgrounds, to promote the social use of Catalan and family-school communication as a fundamental tool for social cohesion. The general objective of the project is to develop a short intervention program of a preventive and proactive nature for families with young children with difficulties and risk of social exclusion, in order to act on risk factors and on the quality of parent-child interactions. It is a generalizable pilot experience of multifamily work within the school framework. Funding: ACSAR Foundation (2011) and Department of Social Welfare and Family Affairs of the Catalan Autonomous Government (2012). We have worked with grandparents of children from two public schools in the Vallcarca-Penitents neighbourhood in Gràcia who have volunteered to collaborate in the work of literacy for children in P4, P5 and first grade. It consisted of a series of workshops at the school with weekly or biweekly frequency where the grandparents worked with groups of children with compatible levels. Bring formal and informal knowledge through dialogue between the school and the family on mathematical issues related to everyday life. Funding:  Language and Social Cohesion of the Catalan Autonomous Government (2007-2010). PRESME Foundation.

These workshops aim to promote communication between local women and immigrant women, and the use of the Catalan language. They are also aimed at fostering family-school relations and skills as well as women’s own well-being.  Funding:  Department of Language Policy of the Catalan Autonomous Government (2008). The objective is to improve relationships between mothers from different cultures and, in addition, to promote the learning of the Catalan language from structured play-situations with their children. Funding: Department of the Presidency, Language Policy of the Catalan Autonomous Government (2006-2007). This experience consists of involving the parents of the children in the kindergarten class in the Combined Preschool Centre and Primary School La Monjoia in their children’s learning. A short intervention programme of a preventive and proactive nature aimed at families with young children, with difficulties and risk of social exclusion, in order to be able to act on risk factors and on the quality of parent-child interactions. It is a program that aims to improve the quality of family interaction and involve families in the dynamics of the school by intervening in the same educational context and working for group change.  Funding:  ACSAR Foundation (2011) and Department of Social Welfare and Family Affairs of the Catalan Autonomous Government (2012). It deals with promoting educational opportunities that are both safe and individualized, for the prevention of mental health as well as situations of risk and drug dependence. This is carried out through a global and integral approach to the adolescent and their context, based on their individual monitoring and interdisciplinary and networking work. Funding: Department of Public Health of the Catalan Autonomous Government  (2009). It is a pilot experience that aims to be an example of good practice for small municipalities, based on an intervention model for accompaniment in the transition to the working world from individual tutoring and the possibility to create and offer new training alternatives, as well as initiatives for self-employment which can be shared with other small towns in the area, encouraging networking and associationism among them. Funding:  Department of Education, Barcelona Provincial Council (2009-2010).  PRESME Foundation.

Study of the personal characteristics and vulnerabilities of a youth group, as well as the job profiles required to develop models of accompaniment for their incorporation into the working world. Funding: Department of Labour of the Catalan Autonomous Government (2008-2009) and the Sant Bartomeu del Grau City Council. PRESME Foundation.

The project aims to analyse the phenomenon of disruptive and violent behaviours of adolescents and young people, from a systemic approach, which takes into account their individual, family and school dimensions. The results of the study have been presented at the I International Congress of Youth and Society organized by the University of Girona. Reflection and proposal of an indicative model for interventions aimed at improving the development and opportunities of young people from small communities. Funding: Barcelona Provincial Council (2008). PRESME Foundation.

The project’s goal is to contribute to improving the fragile and difficult situation of unaccompanied immigrant minors and to respond to the emotional and educational needs of these young people. It also aims to contribute to responding to the difficulties presented by many of them to adapt to their new country and to the requirements and demands of schools. We work with a multidisciplinary intervention modality, with groups of a maximum of 10 youth enrolled in schools. The objective is to carry out emotional accompaniment, to work on linguistic, communicative, mathematical and citizenship skills and to help them to develop their own personal and educational project.  Funding:  Department of Education of the Barcelona Provincial Council (2018 and 2019). It is a project that was developed in collaboration with the Barcelona Consortium of Education. Its objective is to offer academic support and to tutor youth at risk of school failure and dropping out of the educational system, and to improve schooling rates in post-compulsory studies of youth from the neighbourhoods of Nou Barris, Ciutat Vella and Sant Martí. It is the continuation of the project name “Proyecta’t“. It is a project to accompany and tutor adolescents and youth who have just arrived in Barcelona from regrouped families, to facilitate access to University. It was developed in collaboration with the Directorate of Services of Immigration and Interculturality of the Barcelona City Council. Its objective is to specifically address the reception of adolescents from immigrant families between the ages of 18 and 20 who arrive from their countries with experiences of school success and are eager to continue their studies. The objective is to prevent situations which are unfortunately frequent with newly arrived young people who have the desire to continue studying and consolidate a life project in the country where their family has been established, yet experience unfulfilled dreams. Funding: Barcelona City Council (2012-2021), and Barcelona Provincial Council (2012). PRESME Foundation.

The proposal consists of brief interventions working together with families, children and schools, if applicable. It deals with continuing the collaborative work started this year with the Social Services of Horta, specifically in its program of attention to women who have suffered gender violence. The professionals offer attention and support to women and their children.  Funding:  Area of citizen services, Barcelona Provincial Council (2013).

It deals with studying and analysing the social, family, and school reality of the girls of the La Sínia de Vic school and collaborating with the school, the family and the socio-educational network of the area to develop strategies aimed at the prevention of school failure and offer personal and future professional guidance, based on group and individual accompaniment. Funding:  Catalan Women’s Institute and PRESME Foundation (2012).

“Elaboration of the Reception Plan in the La Floresta School in Sant Cugat” (2004-2005)

The proposal consists of the creation of a 4-session support group and work group for parents of children with Asperger’s syndrome, a part of autism spectrum disorder. It deals with identifying the needs in each case and focusing on the needs of the children, offering them the educational and learning opportunities necessary for their development.  Funding:  Department of People with Disabilities of the Barcelona City Council (2014). It consists of providing a space for parents of teenagers between the ages of 12 and 20 who live in the city of Barcelona. Stemming from the interest and commitment to contribute to the improvement of the approach to adolescence from the parents’ perspective, promoting a greater knowledge of a vital stage that is becoming increasingly complex, both for parents and for adolescents themselves.

The goal is to empower parents through interactive workshops to promote self-knowledge, to work to improve parental responsibilities, assertiveness and the ability to set limits. This is all in a context of listening, encouraging the sharing of experiences and talking about difficulties, whilst in constant accompaniment and direction of a professional expert in adolescence. Funding:  Department of Social Welfare and Family Affairs of the Catalan Autonomous Government (2015). This is a new PRESME initiative in its primary prevention work. It consists of a series of meetings with parents from the neighbourhood public schools, with the collaboration of the Jaume Fuster Library, the Psycho-pedagogical Attention Team, the Educational Resource Centre and the teams of the schools involved. These meetings deal with issues related to parenting and education and respond to the needs and issues of families. Funding:  ACSAR Foundation (2010) and PRESME Foundation.
