Projects

The proposal consists of the training of a work group for families of infants who present mild forms of Autism Spectrum Disorders, including Asperger’s syndrome, as well as for professionals from mainstream schools who work with this population. The aim is to create a space for acceptance and training in which the understanding, accompaniment and education of these children are treated from an interdisciplinary perspective, and in which dialogue between families and education professionals is encouraged.  Funding:  Barcelona City Council  (2015-2021), Department of Social Welfare and Family Affairs of the Catalan Autonomous Government(2016-2021) Institute of Education Sciences of the Autonomous University of Catalonia. It is a service that has been developed since the beginning of the Foundation, aimed at children and families. The main objective is to prevent problems of an emotional, behavioural and learning nature, and to promote the healthy development of young children by reinforcing parents’ security when exercising parental responsibilities and the improvement of the quality of their interactions. In some cases, videos are used to discuss communication and interaction approaches with their parents.  Funding:  Caixa Tarragona  (2008-2009),  Department of Health of the Barcelona Provincial Council  (2008-2010). The project is part of an initiative undertaken by the Post-Compulsory Education Service of the Consortium of Education, throughout Barcelona. It aims to help academic support and carry out tutoring of young people who are at risk of school failure and dropping out of the educational system, It also aims to improve enrolment ratios of high school students in post-compulsory studies in schools located in Barcelona. PRESME carries out the intervention in high schools in the districts of Nou Barris, Ciutat Vella, Sant Martí, Sant Gervasi, and Horta-Guinardó. This new initiative replaces the ‘Seguim’ project carried out by the PRESME Foundation since 2013. The project “Assolim!” has a main objective, which is to enhance communicative and academic skills in young students from an immigrant background in a non-formal educational context, akin to school, to prevent school failure and promote the empowerment of boys and girls, whilst enhancing their personal growth and their autonomy, allowing them to build a formative and vital project of their own. The Monitoring to the Zing scholarships is a program promoted by the Nous Cims Foundation, by the Counselling Service of the Pla Jove of Nou Barris and by the PRESME Foundation. The service aims to serve young people from high schools in the district of Nou Barris who, once they have finished their compulsory secondary education, want to continue with post-compulsory training, whether it is a middle-level training program, a higher-level program or a baccalaureate, but cannot for financial reasons. The objective is to manage the scholarships granted by the Nous Cims Foundation and offer a tutorial monitoring for their proper use, giving emotional support in cases that require it and academic help to overcome the challenges that this new stage supposes for students. The project is framed within the project “Accompaniment for the improvement of school success: academic support and tutoring of young people”, whose main objective is to develop strategies to reduce the rate of school failure, guide young people academically and professionally whilst avoiding school dropout.

This objective is also linked to working in coordination with youth institutes. It is intended to give the opportunity to girls who are at risk of social exclusion to be able to continue with their educational process by having all the necessary resources so that they can continue with their professional project.
